Wonder if there’s a way to stop vibrate alerting me of msgs when INQ1 is pressed to my ear mid-call
Hold power button for 5 secs & release = power off. Hold for 10 secs & release = reboot.
I’d love to be able to change the order of items in the switcher.

“Everything is so amazing and nobody is happy.”
A surprisingly in-depth criticism of modern society in the guise of a brief comedic interview on a late-night talk show.
(thanks, inky)
I’m reblogging this for some perspective.
In the past, when I’ve reviewed products, I’ve been known to recommend them even if they’re not the best device on the...
RSS as a feature

At a time when RSS is only getting more popular, the Safari 4 Beta RSS feature marketing section is void of “New” claims.
Regular people still don’t use or understand RSS, so it’s understandable why Safari wouldn’t play that up very much.
I think we’ll see more products and features that are based on RSS but don’t call it that. RSS is valuable,...
A Mobile Phone for Facebook Lovers - by Om Malik →
Great article by my favourite Silicon Valley writer.
Om points out the key to the concept - it’s a mass market handset with a great UI that will ensure data usage growth continues on mobile networks.
Here in the UK we are usually left to queue behind American consumers for products to be released, especially technology / electronics; so this article made me feel quite smug when Om...

Still can’t figure out powering down. Hold the power button, wait 10 seconds & it restarts! I just want ‘off’
RT @telecomtails best mobile handset went to inq1 at #mwc awards.
Noticed a glitch - turn on phone whilst charging, then remove cable & charging icon stays animated. Restarted - accurate battery indication.

An evening at INQ
I wrote this post over on my open blog (also hosted on Tumblr). The most important news from that evening was that there will be an update sent over the air to all INQ1 handsets that will improve battery life, pre-cache Facebook photos and improve on minor glitches that users have been submitting as feedback.

Guilty Confession
I have a confession to make - I accidentally scratched the INQ1’s casing. I feel really guilty, having been trusted with this phone. The scratch is extremely small and on the back; but you can see the silver underneath the black annodised layer. I’ll try to get a photo later.
The handset slipped out of my hand as I closed it to hang up. Thankfully the phone is rugged enough to...
Just getting the feed set up on Tumblr. I want to be able to quickly update The INQ1 Blog from Twitter.

Google Maps Working
Google Maps runs properly now, and I have secured it in the Switcher for quick “Help! I’m lost!” access.
I think the problem was related to the MicroSD troubles, because it wasn’t storing anything downloaded through the web browser.
The latest version of Google Maps supports Street View in areas that support it. Sadly My Location is not available on INQ1, which was never...

Java Trouble
I’m lost. I’ve tried to install Google Maps. I found the download link through the Google application in the Switcher bar, which made me think that this was supported and a legitimate download for INQ1. The install went without a hitch and I was even able to add a Google Maps launcher to the Switcher.
However, I switched the phone off overnight for charging and then today I tried...

Memory Card
The INQ1 takes a MicroSD card underneath the battery. It was a challenge to slide into the housing, but the greater challenge came trying to get the phone to read the contents of it.
S60 had placed some interesting files amongst my photos that made it tough for the INQ1 to read correctly. I had to take the MicroSD out, use my USB adaptor to explore it on my computer and then clean off all the...

Email on 3
Now I know what Email on 3 was intended to look like! On S60, I used to experience various display problems and authentication errors, which usually resulted in 20 minutes of negotiating with customer support and engineers.
This application is fantastic and lets you move cleanly between accounts. On S60 I experienced a 5 second delay when trying to switch between email accounts.
I run 4 email...

Getting set up - Contacts
I loaded my SIM card and turned the phone on.
The welcome screens are quite psychadelic with swirling circles and strange robotic music. It asked standard questions such as date and time and then played a short movie demonstrating some of its best features.
First thing I loaded was my contacts, to check that it could see my SIM contacts. It imported those to the phone straight away. I still need...

First impressions
I received the phone in yesterdays mail. I took photos of every aspect to both the handset and its packaging as I unwrapped it, which I’ll be posting shortly.
First impressions:
The packaging is artistic and ecclectic. It seems to target a younger audience with its bright colours. The instruction manual takes an impressive leap, away from the mundane black and white paper booklet written...
